In 1970 a group of women from Puerto Vallarta founded the first civil association for social assistance, Asociación Feminil Vallartense A.C., focusing on improving the community in social, civic, cultural and sports aspects, in collaboration with authorities. Throughout the years, they have achieved important milestones, such as the construction of the first home, the maintenance of the 5 de Diciembre Municipal Pantheon, and the participation in the reconstruction of the Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe, among others. Since 2006, CANICA VALLARTA, (Support Center for children with cancer) has been its main program.

Since 2006, its main program has focused on comprehensive care for children and young people with cancer (CANICA) from low-income families, sustained by the support of authorities and altruistic donors.
